Hannah Swensen can't be bored. When she's not serving customers at her bakery, The Cookie Jar, she's teaching adult cooking classes at the Jordan Institute or trying to find the secret ingredient in chocolate cupcakes. Everyone in Lake Eden believes Hannah has a knack for crime, but when she discovers a body in a dumpster, she finds it very difficult to stay away. First, because the victim's chest is stained with frosting from one of her cupcakes, and second, because it's Sheriff Grant, her brother-in-law Bill's direct rival for the sheriff's post and the prime suspect. Secrets from the past, unspeakable lies, and opportunistic schemes are the ingredients of this case.
