We now have the physiological evidence that memory has stages and that we can improve our memory efficiency. An exciting study published in 2008 found that students who read information, then reviewed it by using a testing format retained 50% more of the information than students using traditional rote memorization and mind mapping. Also published in 2008, Improving Fluid Intelligence with Training on Working Memory demonstrated that it is possible to increase intelligence through training.
