Thrust into a role he is unprepared for, Alleso resigns himself to being the Bearer for his tribe, facing death on his journey to the gods' altar. But the Green Gods have other plans for him; the potent seed of the god who claims him will take root in Alleso's fertile field, the human's body submitting to the god's pleasure and awakening to his own desires, until the Bearer's belly swells with the fruit of new life growing within him.
