This manual systematizes some scientific contributions from the most renowned works that address the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, mainly in Portuguese and Spanish. In this context, the first chapter contributes to raising general awareness by addressing the relationship between technology and society. The second chapter reflects on ICT in the teaching-learning process. The third chapter is reserved for a brief discussion of the use of information and communication technologies as a teaching tool and the place that computers occupy in this didactic category. The fourth chapter addresses theoretical and practical aspects of the use of computers in the teaching-learning process. The fifth chapter provides a brief analysis of the use of Derive software as a teaching tool. The sixth chapter studies Graphmatica software. The eighth chapter addresses the use of the internet in the training of mathematics teachers. The ninth chapter concludes the manual, addressing contemporary concepts on the use of computers in teaching.
