There was a plasterer called Mr. Jin who had been working sporadically as a part-timer and sleeping on the streets of Seoul for several years. Because he had no stable job, his life was always like that. He had seen and experienced many peculiar, odd things while living as a vagrant. And he would share one of those experiences, in particular, regarding the encounter with ghosts or goblins in the city. He wasn’t an ardent believer in a ghost story, but he nonetheless had some experiences with ghosts. It happened on one night when he and his colleague Kim had a drink and then went to their usual sleeping spot in front of an old palace. Because there was no spot for them, they ventured into the inside the palace. But soon they witnessed some fires and lights from out of nowhere on the palace courtyard. Sure they were some mysterious forms of goblins or evil spirits, they bolted out the palace. On the following night, he alone went to the place where that strange thing had happened. He again courageouly entered the old palace to identify the ghosts or ghoblins. Eventually, he came to face them again. But they were quite different than his expectation. He saw the real ghosts of the city.
