Learn to carve expressive, compelling characters from the Old West using wood and just a few tools. The cowboy was an integral part of the Old West. To convey his bravery, tenacity, and independence in a woodcarving is a challenge, but professional carver Bob Lundy walks readers through the process of creating expressive faces with humor and style. Approaching his work with an eye for the personality of the characters, he will instill that sensitivity in his students, giving them a feeling of closeness and camaraderie with the people who emerge from the wood. The book includes: • Expert tips on creating realistic, expressive Old West characters from start to finish • Stepbystep projects for a classic cowboy, a Native American, and a mountain man • A gallery of 16 other finished pieces for added inspiration This book is written for both the beginner, who is looking for complete howto information from start to finish, and for the veteran, who is interested only in a tip here and there to improve their work.
