The final installment throws the young mutants back into a battle they've fought once before. Even with the recent victory of destroying Boswell's work everyone still feared his retaliation. He soon relies on a group of hired mercenaries to put an end to the Chronicles and the Deserters.
After years of lying dormant under the reign of the Revival family the government brandishes a law imprisoning all mutants. When several members of the Revival escape custody Hawthorne realizes the Chronicles can assist him in locating the fugitives. The shocking conclusion of the series leads back to Texas where the Revival and the Chronicles meet their fate.
