It is February, 1690 in Paris. An elderly Carmelite friar is sitting in a candle lit monastery cubicle writing a letter to a nun in a neighboring Convent. His name is Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection. He senses that death is not for away, and he wants to memorialize his thoughts relating the most singular purpose of his life: to find and achieve God's presence.
Three hundred and fifty years later, Lawrence's letter and other writings have been brought back to life by this direct translation from the original French manuscripts, without filtering or redaction. Included are his Maximes and Letters, as well as his Conversations with his mentor and Superior, Father Joseph de Beaufort.
