In 2014 the New York Yankees became the first franchise in the history of Major League Baseball to hit 15,000 home runs. In many ways the history of the Bronx Bombers home runs is the history of the Yankees. Ruth s 60 home runs in 1927 was a record that stood for 34 years when it was eclipsed by Yankee Roger Maris in 1961. All the great names are here like Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Maris, DiMaggio, Berra, Jeter, and the list goes on and on. This book will not only cover the great hitters and their hitting careers. It will also cover many of the iconic home runs like Bucky Dent s shot in Boston, Mickey Mantle s 565 foot shot in Washington, Ruth s called shot in the 1932 World Series against the Cubs, as well as promising to hit a home run for a sick child in the hospital, Jackson s famed three home runs in three at bats during the 1977 World Series, and many more unforgettable moments.
