Dominique McCloud was leading a normal boring life. She was well known and liked in her small town in Tulare County, California. After graduating college, she moved back home to work in her mom's art studio. She donates her time directing plays for fundraisers for her community and has the same issues dating that many people have; she attracts psycho's. Finally, she meets Tracy who seems perfect in every way. Her entire life she thought she suffered from anemia and always had to make sure there was a lot of iron in her diet. But, out of nowhere, her cravings for blood intensified. She no longer had her meat cooked rare but barely seared on either side then slapped on a plate. Psychologically, her emotions ranged from rage to depressed pushing her to seek out answers explaining the changes to her physical and mental health. To her amazement, Tracy patiently deals with her craziness and stands by her side. Before she can make a doctor's appointment, her mom reveals a huge secret she kept from her all of her life: the father she thought was dead is actually a vampire. After learning that she is a half breed, Dominique is faced with a dilemma that started before she was born - a destiny that is out of her hands and a rite of passage that must be fulfilled or she will be put to death.
