In the wicked city of Gomorrah, an uprising is fomenting when foreigner Ashurta enters with his bedraggled army at the invitation of the king to bring the city back under control, but he stumbles on an apparent murder at the onset. Meanwhile, high-priestess Lilliana hadn't intended to kill a powerful man in self-defense, but as she struggles to serve the city in the ancient manner it seems the gods have deserted. When a new evil prophet arises, he challenges Ashurta's prophet, Abraham. Lilliana learns from Ashurta about the new Jehovah, but with an avenging army at the gate and a city in turmoil, a string of infants go missing and the worst is feared. Lilliana and Ashurta and the king come together to challenge Fortune, and to follow the new Jehovah but can any of them survive the rising civil war or the judgement of Jehovah?
