The book was deliberately written in simple language suitable for both children and adults. Each game is accompanied by an English translation to enrich it with an additional educational element and to make it accessible to foreign children in Italy and those in the rest of the world. The hope is to achieve a double result: to encourage children to read and to suggest many games they can play together. When Gianluca Lopez submitted the manuscript to me and asked for my opinion, I was particularly surprised by the subject matter: street games! I thought that, after all, many people have written on this topic in the hope that the popular childhood tradition that unites the same games and game structures from northern to southern Italy, without the use of technological tools to facilitate communication, would not be lost. What is worth reflecting on is the pedagogical background that Gianluca Lopez wanted to impress upon his work. Not a reservoir of nostalgic and emotional stimuli, but a 'manual' through which to take care of the educational and pro-social development of children through street games. Dr. Eliana Peperoni, Pedagogist Il libro è stato volutamente scritto in un linguaggio semplice adatto sia ai più piccoli che agli adulti, ogni gioco è corredato di traduzione in inglese per arricchirlo di un elemento educativo in più, e per renderlo fruibile anche ai bambini stranieri in Italia e a quelli nel resto del mondo. L'auspicio è quello di avere un doppio risultato avvicinare i più piccoli alla lettura e suggerirgli tanti giochi da fare in compagnia. Quando Gianluca Lopez mi sottopose il manoscritto chiedendomi un'opinione fui sorpresa soprattutto dall'argomento del testo: i giochi di strada! Pensai che, in fondo, tanti hanno scritto su questo tema nella speranza che non si perdesse quella tradizione popolare infantile che da Nord a Sud Italia coagula gli stessi giochi e le stesse strutture dei giochi senza che questi fossero stati veicolati da strumenti tecnologici facilitatori della comunicazione. Ciò su cui è doveroso riflettere è lo sfondo pedagogico che Gianluca Lopez ha voluto imprimere nel suo lavoro. Non un serbatoio di stimoli nostalgici ed emotigeni ma un "manuale" attraverso cui prendersi cura, tramite il gioco di strada, dello sviluppo educativo e pro sociale dei ragazzi. Dott.sa.
