fills that gap. It is one of the masterpieces by Edward Ellis, writing this time as Colonel Prentiss Ingraham. Recalling that the aim of the Dime Novels was to entertain (and sell more publications!), there is probably more than a grain of truth in this novel. At a minimum, it is jammed-packed with action, adventure, and entertainment.
