This volume contains eight chapters that detail recent advances in engineering research. Chapter One discusses various technologies that can be integrated with building information modeling (BIM) and their applications. Chapter Two introduces computer modeling based on finite element analysis (FEA) to simulate the nanoindentation testing of specimens of different materials, such as mild steel AISI1018. Chapter Three evaluates sub-kW class transportable photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems built with SiC power devices. While stating the applicable technologies of industry 4.0 in the construction industry, Chapter Four investigates the applications of genetic algorithms for the projects’ life cycle in construction 4.0. Chapter Five predicts the surface area of coarse aggregates using python-modeled particles. Chapter Six identifies the key competencies that an apparel manufacturer, willing to adopt mass customization (MC), must possess. It also studies the relationship among these competencies, and develops a hierarchy of their importance, which will act as a roadmap during the adoption of MC. Chapter Seven studies handoff management using GPS through an angle management and hybrid billboard manager approach. Lastly, Chapter Eight addresses the kinematics modeling of continuum robots.
