When Kofi Hope returns to his native Abibiman after studying in the United States, he encounters a society where corruption is commonplace. In this place, the corruptible are acclaimed over the incorruptible. Not only are the principled and incorruptible criticized but they are also disparaged and seen as scum to society. He takes such a label upon himself as he unswervingly chases reform. Will he be successful in his quest for change in society? His arduous task seems to lessen as he meets the beautiful and affable Rebecca, who falls in love with him at first sight. Nevertheless, his joy is cut short in a relationship full of intrigue and heartbreak, and he is left alone to deal with his challenges. He also encounters the Narcissistic Nicholas Hamma, who objects to his every move and goes out of his way to make sure Kofi fails. It is a story of conspiracy and suspense; the protagonist is viewed as delusional in trying to change norms deeply ingrained in society.
"A book of contrasting goals and ideals; A desire to follow the path of reform, as against maintaining the status quo. A real clash of personalities and principles."
ANDRENE LEWIS, BOOK ENTHUSIAST, TORONTO, CANADA
"A deeply human journey of self-discovery, love, and the search for belonging. Richly layered with cultural insight, political tension, and emotional depth."
BRITTANY JONES, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER AND LOVER OF AFRICA
