A story about war, community, and sacrifice. For Ben Hewes and his family, life in 1757 New England was good – they were surrounded by family and friends in their small, colonial community. The world was a developing place, though, and forces beyond their control would forever change their lives. In this story, Ben is called to defend his family – his colony – and finds himself caught in the middle of a hostile and political conflict alongside other members of his community. This is the story of one family whose life – although notspecifically reflected in the history books – illustrates the significant sacrifice and hard work of colonial families. Stories like this one prove that it is the canvas of the average person upon which history is painted.
